形態特徵

Rhizome short. Culms tufted, to 120 cm tall, 0.5-2 mm in diam.; nodes bearded.
Blade scabrous, basal part usually tubercled hairy, 10-20 cm long; ligule membranaceous, 0.5-1 mm long, ciliate upper margin; sheath and mouth of sheath hairy. Panicle to 12 cm long; branches 1-3-noded; capillary, axils pilose.
Spikelets paired, one pedicellate and other sessile. Sessile spikelet oblong-lanceolate, slightly dorsally compressed, 3-4 mm long; callus hairy; lower glume with stiff hairs on dorsal part, 4-nerved, margins inrolled and keeled, keels ciliate; upper glume boat shaped, subequal to Iower lemma, 3-nerved, hairy along upper margin; lower lemma elliptic, ca. 1/3 its length of spikelet, dentate; upper lemma linear, tipped with an awn of 10-15 mm long, awn geniculate, scabrid. Pedicellate spikelet awnless, smaller, reduced.
Two varieties are recognized based on the number of joints of rachis.

世界 : Widely distributed in tropics of the Old World, including Japan, China, Polynesia, Malaysia, Australia, Ethiopia and Abyssinia.
